CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A mother faces multiple charges after allegedly creating substantial risk of harm and safety for her child after going into a fire damaged hotel room.

Police say Beth Gaines, 34, while intoxicated took her 4-year-old son into a Motel 6 hotel room that was closed due to structure fire damage.

The room was still covered completely in smoke soot and other dangerous items and was unable to care for herself or her son, according to police.

After arriving on scene, police say Gaines was so intoxicated that she fell face first onto the pavement and believed that the fire damaged room was hers that she paid for.

Gaines was unable to provide her son's date of birth when police asked.

She was arrested and faces charges of child endangering, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass and possession of drugs.
