Wooster, Oh. native to compete for Miss America Sunday

The Miss America organization will celebrate their 95th anniversary with "The 2016 Miss America Competition" with Miss Ohio Sarah Hider in the running.

The organization provides millions of dollars in annual college scholarship assistance making it the largest scholarship program for women in the United States, stated to the non-profit. 

Hider is originally from Wooster, Ohio and was chosen as Miss Ohio's Outstanding Teen 2008 and crowned Miss Ohio 2015.

"If I won Miss America I would just be so excited to be fulfilling a childhood dream of mine," she stated. "To win the title would be an incredible blessing."

Hider will be competing for the 2016 Miss America title at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hotel on Sunday at 9 p.m. 

Her platform supports "Women hold up half the sky" investing in the potential of young women and girls. 

Pageant judges include Brett Eldredge, Taya Kyle, Kevin O'Leary, Danica McKellar, Amy Purdy and Zendaya. 

Nick Jonas has been confirmed as the official music curator of the evening, according to a representative. 

For the first time in Miss America history, fans have the opportunity to cast their vote entirely on social media for America’s Choice. The winner of America’s Choice will move forward to the Top 15 in the competition. Fans can vote on both Facebook and Twitter by posting a status and/or tweet with the name of the state they are voting for and the hashtag #MissAmericaVote.

Voting for America’s Choice continues today through September 10 at 11:59p.m.

Tickets for “The 2016 Miss America Competition” are now on sale and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.
