Georgetown police officer arrested on domestic violence charge

BROWN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

A Georgetown police officer is on paid administrative leave following his arrest on a domestic violence charge over the holiday weekend.

Kendall Kumpf, 52, is held without bond at the Brown County jail. Records show he was charged with domestic violence Tuesday. 

The Brown County Sheriff's Office took him into custody on the misdemeanor charge Monday night, said Georgetown Police Chief Robert Freeland.

According to the incident report, the situation involved his 18-year-old stepson, Trenton Carrington.

Kumpf was employed by the Department of Mental Health; Summit Behavioral Healthcare as a police officer. 

He works the day shift and was hired by the police department in 2008. 

Officer Kumpf is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation by the Brown County Prosecutor’s Office, according to the chief of Georgetown police. His annual salary is $42,952.
