A Texas man is hospitalized in fair condition after his father killed his mother and wounded him outside a courthouse yesterday in a dispute over child support.

Then gunman was killed in a gunbattle with police after fleeing the scene. His ex-wife and a bystander who intervened are also dead. Authorities credit that bystander with saving the 23-year-old son's life. Three law enforcement officials were also wounded. A sheriff's deputy is in critical condition with wounds to his liver, lungs and legs.

Two other officers were treated and released. The couple has two other kids, ages six and 17.
