Police investigate two shootings early Friday

Cincinnati police are investigating two separate shootings early Friday.

A 35-year-old man told police he was sitting on his porch on Dutch Colony Drive when a man walking by asked him for a cigarette about 12:50 a.m., said Lt. Tim Brown, the night chief.

“When he said he didn’t have one, he said the suspect shot him in the right knee and thigh,” Brown said.

The gunman ran off and remains at large.

The victim was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he is expected to recover.

Then, about 30 minutes later, a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder walked into the hospital lobby.

The man told authorities he was shot somewhere on Colerain Avenue or in College Hill, Brown said.

He is not cooperating with detectives.

Police are still investigating both incidents and don’t think they are connected.
