Gas has slipped below $2 per gallon in parts of the Tri-State with overall gas prices in Ohio among the lowest in the nation after prices spiked across the Midwest earlier this summer.

Costco on East Kemper Road in Springdale rings up the lowest price in the region at $1.95 per gallon, according to www.cincygasprices.com

Kroger on South Erie Boulevard at Grand Avenue in Fort Thomas is charging $1.99.

Gas prices, which haven't been this low in months, shot up 30 to 40 cents last month after an unplanned outage at a BP oil refinery in Whiting, Indiana.

The current national average is $2.36 per gallon, compared with $2.19 per gallon in Ohio, according to AAA.
