Police: Fleeing serial robber tries to ram cruiser

NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

A serial robbery suspect is accused of trying to ram a police cruiser as he fled his latest heist.

Steve Ivery, 29, of Spring Grove Village faces a judge Tuesday on aggravated robbery charges.

He is accused of holding up Payless and Speedway in Norwood and Family Dollar in College Hill this month.

He was caught on camera stealing money from the register at gunpoint in at least one of the offenses, court records show.

Police say as Ivery fled, he tried to ram a police cruiser with his vehicle and then got out and ran off.

Police found him a short distance away near Winton Montessori Elementary School. He had heroin, a loaded gun and $765 in cash, records state.

In addition to the aggravated robbery charges, he also faces ones for felonious assault, failure to comply with police, heroin trafficking, drug possession, carrying a concealed weapon and illegally possessing a gun.

He is prohibited from carrying firearms after felony convictions for robbery and aggravated robbery, court records show.
