Cincinnati will be the backdrop to Mariah Carey's new holiday movie, the Greater Cincinnati Film Commission announced Tuesday.

The pop superstar is directing and starring in “Melody & Mistletoe,” a TV movie set to begin filming in the Queen City this October.

This will be Carey's directorial debut and her first movie role since 2013. The movie will reportedly air on the Hallmark channel in December.

The Motion Picture Corporation of America is behind the film. MPCA shot “The Christmas Spirit” in Cincinnati two years ago.

Executive Producers Stella Bulochnikov, Jonathan Axelrod, Alan Ett, Eric Jarboe and Kevin Connor also join the team.

The Film Commission says they are preparing by scouting locations, introducing local crew and resources to the production, and helping to identify everything “Cincinnati” to support production.

“We are ecstatic to have MPCA back in Cincinnati,” said Kristen Schlotman, Executive Director of the Greater Cincinnati Film Commission. “We have been setting a tremendous pace this year and we are seeing our production industry grow tremendously in 2015.”
