COLLEGE HILL, OH (FOX19) -

A precautionary lockdown at Pleasant Hill Academy prompted by a shooting nearby has been lifted, a school district spokeswoman said.

The West North Bend Road school was put on lockdown shortly after police responded to a shooting at Sunset Apartment Homes just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

All students were safe, and the school day continued as normal, said Janet Walsh, a spokeswoman for Cincinnati Public Schools.

Cincinnati police are still investigating the shooting, which sent a man to the hospital with gunshot wounds to his leg and arm. He is expected to recover.

Police said shooting occurred after a woman and her new boyfriend met the victim, who is her ex-boyfriend, at the complex. None of the three live there, and police are still working to determine why they met there.

The woman and her boyfriend fled the scene in a maroon van.

The woman was later located and is talking to investigators, who consider her a witness. They are still searching for her boyfriend and consider him a suspect, they said.

FOX19 NOW has a crew at the shooting scene and will continue to update this story.
