OVER THE RHINE, OH (FOX19) -

Joe Tucker has no problem making breakfast for customers at Tuckers Restaurant. His shrimp and grits are among some of his customers favorites.

In July, a fire destroyed the nearly seven-decade-old restaurant's kitchen. A little sign on the door in yellow writing reads, "Closed due to fire. Some local customers and business owners are helping to get the doors back open."

"I knew there would be a few people wanting to help us but I didn't know it was going to be that big of an outpour. It's very humbling,” said Tucker.

A gofundme account "Rebuild Tucker's Restaurant" was created. As of Wednesday night, it stood at just a little over $15,000 of the $65,000 needed. Tucker says the cost is quickly adding up, as walls had to be stripped down to the brick and other equipment was destroyed.

"It's not me it's all about people that support me, that want me to come back open and God has helped me out a lot through this situation because without him none of this would be happening at all,” said Tucker.

One of his supporters and Taste of Belgium owner, Jean-François Flechet, is helping with the process.

"It's important. They're like an institution. They've been in the neighborhood way before anybody. I've been coming to this neighborhood for 15 years now,” said Flechet.

For now, Tucker waits as this process begins and waits on the day to open the familiar door that has fed so many.

"I'm probably going to need a lot of Kleenex, cause' I'll be crying. You know, it’ll be amazing,” said Tucker.
