Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is this weekend! The three-day festival will bring you a variety of German food, beer, entertainment, fun and the World's Largest Chicken Dance.

The event is the largest Oktoberfest celebration in the country. More than 500,000 people will converge on a six block area of Fifth Street to eat, drink, sing, listen to music, try to speak German and perform the famous Chicken Dance.

Here are some of the essential things to know about Oktoberfest Zinzinnati this weekend.

Opening Ceremonies

When: Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Where: Fountain Square

Join festival goers for the official opening ceremonies and keg tapping. Sam Adams founder Jim Koch will be tapping the keg.

The World's Largest Chicken Dance

When: Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Where: Fountain Square

One of the favorite events at Oktoberfest is the World's Largest Chicken dance. Former Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson is this year's grand marshal and will lead thousands in the chicken dance.

Sam Adams Stein Hoisting Championship

When: Sunday at 5 p.m.

Where: Fountain Square

How long can you raise your beer stein? Competitors will try to hoist their beer stein the longest in a contest of grit, determination, strength and the desire to drink the contents of the stein.

Glier’s World Brat-Eating Championship

When: Sunday at 5 p.m.

Where: Fifth and Broadway

One of the top-ranked competitive eaters in the world will return to Oktoberfest Zinzinnati to defend his title at the six annual Glier's World Brat-Eating Championship. Joey "Jaws" Chestnut is trying to break the world record he set in 2013 by eating 70 brats in 10 minutes.

Christian Moerlein Glockenspiel

When: Every hour on the hour all weekend.

Where: Fifth and Broadway

When the clock strikes, the music kicks in and entertainers emerge on the stage to ring in the hour with dances, toasts and souvenirs for the crowd.

Five beer gardens will host live music all weekend long.  For a complete list of music and entertainment, click here

And of course, beer and food!

Metts, brats, potato pancakes, pretzels, sauerkraut balls, cream puffs, strudel and more will be served. You will not leave hungry.

You'll want some beer to wash down all of the food you eat.

While wine, soda and water will all be available, beer is one of the things that makes Oktoberfest!
