Students removed after unloaded BB guns found at Middletown HS

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) -

Two students have been removed from Middletown High School after two unloaded BB guns were located in one of the student's backpack Friday, according to principal Carmela Cotter.

Another student found out about the guns and told school authorities, Cotter said. No ammo was found on the student. 

Two students were removed from the school, Cotter said.  The school will undergo a review process to determine if they should be suspended.

Cotter says the there is no threat and parents were alerted about the situation.

The high school posted the following statement on their website.

Middletown High School parents received a phone message notifying them of an incident that happened at the High School. A student alerted administration that a student had a BB gun in their possession. Administration and Resource officer responded immediately and confiscated two empty BB guns from a student’s backpack. There were no BBs present. Two students were apprehended and removed from school. No one was in harm’s way. The actions of the reporting student and staff members should be commended. School is in full session.
