CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Students across Cincinnati Public Schools will be sharing a meal Monday with their teachers during lunchtime.

The Mentoring Meals initiative is aimed at helping students make healthier choices when it comes to meals outside the classroom.

The shared meal will happen every Monday for the next seven weeks.

Nationally, over one third of students are overweight or obese, leading to potential problems like heart disease or type 2 diabetes.

School district leaders say they know that teachers play a huge role in the lives of children, and they hope this project can make an impact.
