For the first time, an all-female group of veterans will visit Washington D.C. through the Tri-State Honor Flight program.

It is first visit of its kind in the nation, the non-profit organization says. The historic flight honors America's veterans of World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars and all who served either statewide or overseas.

72 senior veteran and 70 guardians will fly for free from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and visit various war memorials. This trip will stop at the WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Lincoln, Air Force, and Iwo Jima Memorials.

Four women will also lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

A special tour of the Women in Military Service for America Memorial and the Vietnam nurses memorial is included, and the group will be escorted through D.C. by a US Park Service motorcycle detail.

The veterans leave from CVG around 7 a.m.  and return to Cincinnati around 10 p.m.
