Recipe: Celebrate National Bourbon Heritage Month with a Fig Jig

September is National Bourbon Heritage Month. Americans will celebrate bourbon as our country's "Native Spirit."

What better way to enjoy bourbon's deep traditions than with a cocktail from mixologist and owner of Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar? Here's Molly Wellmann's recipe for a Fig Jig. Cheers!

You'll need:

2 ounces Four Roses Yellow Label bourbon

1 ounce Pimm’s No. 1

1 ⁄ 2 ounce fig simple syrup

Fig Simple Syrup: 

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

6 dried figs cut in half.

Add all to a pan heat till almost about to boil. Remove from heat and let cool at room temp for a half hour to 45 minutes . Strain figs and bottle.

Instructions: 

-Add all the ingredients in a mixing glass.

Add ice and shake. Strain into a cocktail glass.
