Children checked for minor injuries in Middletown school bus crash

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) -

Eleven school children were taken to the hospital to be checked out for minor injuries after a crash involving a school bus Thursday morning, Middletown Fire Chief Paul Lolli said.

A vehicle turned in front of a Middletown school bus full of elementary students at Sutphin Street and Central Avenue just before 8 a.m., he said.

Officials say the driver of the car ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into the side of the bus.

Initially, no injuries were reported. Then the youngsters began complaining of injuries, so the school asked that they be taken to Atrium Medical Center as a precaution.

The driver of the car wasn't injured.
