John Boehner, who resigned as the Speaker of the House, began here in the Queen City.

He's a graduate of Moeller High School and Xavier University.

Moeller’s school president, Bill Hunt, believes his call to serve his country through politics was something he learned at Moeller.

“On of the tenants of a Marianas education is to educate these young guys for service, justice and peace, and I think John really took that to heart,” said Hunt.

He recalls when Boehner came back to visit Moeller and spoke to a room of nearly 500 young men.

" He could not have been more genuine and as you probably know that was a very emotional moment for him to be back at his alma mater,” said Hunt.

Bonhner's roots in Cincinnati go deeper - His family owned Andy's Cafe a family bar in Carthage.

He returned to the bar for a family reunion in 2010.
Longtime friend George Lange said Boehner remained the same throughout his years of service.

"He's just a dude,” said Lang. “He's one of the guys. "Congress didn't change him. Being the Speaker of the House did change him. He's something that cares dearly about the things her's passionate about."

That was something that made Lang and community proud.

"You know John has severed our township and our country well, and West Chester is truly blessed to have a sitting speaking of the house,” said Lang.
