CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Hamilton County Heroin Coalition presented its strategic action plan to county leaders Monday.

The plan was detailed during the 11 a.m. County Commissioners meeting in the County Administration Building, 138 E. Court St., 6th floor.

Established earlier this year, the heroin coalition is a collaborative partnership of public health, treatment providers, law enforcement and other community stakeholders.

Their plan details action steps underway and ones planned for future use to impact the heroin and opiate epidemic in an effort to reduce overdose deaths and drug-related crimes in the community.

Strategies include the unveiling of a brand new, one-stop website for local families to learn more about heroin and opiate abuse, find treatment and assistance, and get involved in combating the epidemic. The website is live and can be accessed by visiting www.injecthope.com.

The coalition's action plan also outlined action steps to control the supply of heroin coming into the county, educate youth and families on the dangers of heroin abuse and expand the treatment available for detox and recovery.

"I think this plan declares war on heroin," said Hamilton County commissioner Greg Hartmann.
