SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) -

Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum addressed supporters as he explained his reasons for wanting the seat in the Oval Office while campaigning in Sharonville Monday night.

The Hamilton County Republican Party welcomed Santorum with open arms.  At the fundraiser, attendees were given opportunities to ask questions at the Sharonville Convention Center.

"It's further proof that south west Ohio and Hamilton County matter in the presidential race," said Hamilton County GOP Chairman Alex Triantafilou.

This isn't the first time Santorum has made a run for the White House. He lost in the primary to Mitt Romney back in 2012. Santorum isn't topping the polls, in fact the latest poll by Quinnipiac puts him towards the bottom. Supporters say it's still too early to call it anybody's race.

"I fundamentally think that this is anybody's race right now. I think it's dangerous to predict that a front runner is going to win," stated Triantafilou. "At this time four years ago the race was all over the place."

Santorum said he wants to roll out a plan that would put Americans back to work and create opportunities for manufactures to do well.

"All the hard work, and all the things that we do, spending time with voters and building a grass root network that doesn't pay early in a race it pays off late in a race. "
