A juvenile led police on a chase after taking off from his house with a loaded gun Monday.
Woodlawn police officers responded to reports of a woman having trouble with her 17-year-old son around 2:30 p.m.
According to police, the woman said that her son had left on foot from their home on Faxon Court prior to officers' arrival.
The woman also told the officers that the child was armed with a 9mm handgun that he had taken from the house, said officials.
Officers reportedly spotted the juvenile several times in the neighborhood and engaged in a pursuit on foot, but he eluded capture.
Units from Wyoming Police, Hamilton County Sheriff/Lincoln Heights, Evendale Police, Great Parks Police, Evendale Police, and Springfield Township Police assisted with setting up a perimeter.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s helicopter and a Cincinnati Police canine also responded to help in the search.
Woodlawn Elementary School was temporarily placed on lockdown and Glenview Gardens Park was temporarily closed.
Police said the juvenile was apprehended at 4:05 p.m. in the back yards between Faxon Court and Brookhaven Avenue.
A 9mm pistol, with one round in the magazine, was recovered from the juvenile with additional 9mm rounds in his pocket, according to police.
The 17-year-old will be taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center on several felony and misdemeanor charges.
"We would like to thank the residents and several contractors in the area, who provided information as they saw the juvenile run from one location to another," said chief of Woodlawn police Jeffrey Witte.
