I still watch “Survivor.” There I said it. I have watched every season, but the first one. That’s saying a lot because “Survivor” is now in its 31st season.
Over the weekend, I hosted the Miss Michigan USA pageant in beautiful Port Huron. I have hosted the show for nearly 15 years. Random right?
It’s because the show’s producer asked me first to host Miss Ohio USA. She thought I did a good job, so asked me to host Michigan too. I met three people from “Survivor Blood vs Water," Reed Kelly, Jon Misch, and his now wife Jaclyn Schultz.
Actually Jaclyn was the runner up. She is also a former Miss Michigan USA, that’s her connection to the event. At first they were talking among themselves after the pageant in the hospitality suite.
I was eavesdropping; much of the conversation “Survivor” related. I admitted to “creeping” on their conversation and started asking them all kinds of questions. They were super nice about it.
Reed said the game play still happens for some even when they are voted off the island. Campaigning on who should get their $1 million vote. They also said, the experience was more grueling than then ever imagined. They knew they would be hungry, tired and exhausted.
This experience surpassing anything they could imagine. I would still do it though. I’m afraid after working this early morning job, I would be kicked off for sleeping too much.
