The superintendent of Campbell County Schools is retiring in the wake of his recent domestic violence arrest, school officials announced Wednesday.

Glen Miller's retirement goes into effect Nov. 1.

"Please be assured the Board of Education will be moving forward to quickly address this situation and ensure continuity of leadership," reads a prepared statement from Janis Winbigler, board chairwoman. "The Board of Education’s primary goal is to ensure the ongoing success of the district."

The school board placed Miller on administrative leave last week following his Sept. 23 arrest on a 4th degree Assault charge, a Class A misdemeanor, according to Kentucky Legislature Revised Statutes.

He is scheduled to go to court Oct. 19 for a pretrial conference.
