Dayton police chase ends in Warren County

A police chase that began in Dayton ended in Warren County early Friday, according to the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

A motorist in his 30s is in custody with several charges pending, said Sgt. Ryan Saylor.

About 3 a.m., deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office began pursuing the driver of a green Chevrolet Trailblazer that Huber Heights police reported as stolen and used in an armed robbery, Montgomery County sheriff's officials said.

The pursuit went into Kettering and Greene County, where Montgomery County deputies stopped following the vehicle.

The chase picked back up on Ohio 73 near U.S. 42 in Waynesville, Saylor said.

Authorities threw down stop sticks in an attempt to deflate the Trailblazer's tires to end the pursuit, he said.

"I don't know how many he actually hit," Saylor said. "I know he hit one at Ohio 73 and U.S. 48, but he had flat tires before he hit those, so I am not sure where else he hit them."

The Trailblazer crashed, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

He is being held at the Warren County jail while sheriff's officials attempt to reach Huber Heights police.
