A man recently sentenced to life in prison for the death of his girlfriend in Brown County was indicted this week by a Kenton County grand jury in connection with an Elsmere homicide.

Michael Wilcox, 27, was indicted on charges of murder, robbery and tampering with evidence. He is expected to face a Kenton County judge on Oct. 12.

Last month, he pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend, Courtney Fowler, 25, in April.

Police arrested Wilcox after a relative found Fowler shot and killed inside her Brown County home. Authorities discovered the body of Zachary Gilkison, a friend of Wilcox’s, in Elsmere the day after Fowler died.

Wilcox told an investigator he "was listening to music and the music was telling him to do something crazy," court records show. "Michael stated he retrieved (sic) a hand gun from the side of his bed, and shot Courtney Fowler two times, once in the front and once in the back."

Wilcox blames drugs for his actions, according to Brown County Special Prosecutor David Kelly.
