INDEPENDENCE, KY (FOX19) -

A man in Independence charged with assault for injuries inflicted upon his infant child faced a judge Thursday.

The Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Office charged Casey Radcliffe, 24, with 1st Degree Assault upon his 3-month-old child, according to reports.

Investigators say Radcliffe shook the child so much that he suffered a broken rib and hemorrhaging in the head.

Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders says the child is now in grave condition, with the case expected to head to a grand jury soon.

Radcliffe is being held on a $50,000 bond, and could face 20 years in prison.
