FOX19 -

Thousands of cookies will make their way to police officers all over the Tri-State and the country Monday.

Approved volunteers from the "Cookies for a Cop" program will deliver cookies to a majority of the police departments in Hamilton, Warren, Butler, Kenton, Campbell, and Boone counties.

Great American Cookies in Florence delivered cookies to Cincinnati District 2 Police Department.  The cookie is decorated with the CPD badge and says "Officer Sonny Kim P396."

The program started in the Tri-State as a way to lift the spirits of law enforcement officers and a way to tell them that they are appreciated and valued in the community, according to their website.

After being launched in December of 2014, the program has seen their numbers grow from 220 departments in 24 states to 509 departments in 27 states.

Volunteers around the country will deliver approximately 108,584 cookies to 553 police departments in 27 states Monday.
