Police: 2 seriously hurt in head-on crash

WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

Impairment appears to be a factor in a head-on crash that sent two men to the hospital with serious injuries overnight, Cincinnati police said.

Damon Bailey, 36, crossed the center line in his 2001 Volkswagen Jetta as it traveled west in the 2700 block of Queen City Avenue just before midnight Monday, traffic police wrote in a prepared statement.

His vehicle struck a 2001 Suzuki XL-7 heading east on Queen City Avenue, the statement reads.

Cincinnati fire crews responded and had to extricate Bailey from his vehicle, according to police.

Bailey and the driver of the Suzuki, William Banks, 49, were taken in ambulances to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, the statement reads.

Both suffered serious injuries, according to police.

Impairment appears to be a factor in the crash, the statement reads.

Police are not sure if the men wore seatbelts, it adds.
