WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

Detectives from the Warren County Sheriff's Office made an arrest in a 1992 homicide case.

Sam Perone, 67, was arrested for the murder of Richard Woods.

Woods was murdered in Lebanon on October 8, 1992, according to a release. His body was discovered in a wooded area alongside Middleboro Road in Washington Township on November 9, 1992.

Through the course of the investigation and after years of interviewing witnesses, investigators identified Perone as the suspect in the case, officials said. The case was presented to the Warren County grand jury and they returned an indictment for him.

Detectives from the Warren County Sheriff's Office went to Phoenix, where Perone now resides, and with the help of the Phoenix Police Department and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, they served a search warrant for Perone and arrested him.

Perone is now awaiting extradition back to Ohio to be arraigned for one count of murder, according to Lt. Faine.
