Police seek tie-wearing grocery store scammer

NORTH COLLEGE HILL, OH (FOX19) -

Police are searching for a grocery store scammer who has hit Kroger stores across the Tri-State, according to Crime Stoppers.

The suspect, often wearing a dress shirt and tie, has been caught on security cameras in North College Hill, Montgomery, Maineville, Colerain Township, West Chester, Liberty Township and Florence since June.

The man grabs merchandise off store shelves, takes it to customer service counters and then requests to return the items, North College Hill Detective Daniel Fritz said of the scam.

Fritz said the scammer most recently hit the North College Hill Kroger for about $200. He’s also run the theft scam at a Gordon Food Service store.

The suspect is described by police to be approximately 35-years-old, 160 pounds and “well groomed.” In the North College Hill offense he was wearing a white dress shirt, tie, light color dress pants and dark shoes.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call North College Hill Police at 513-521-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
