I dead in Adams County crash

A 65-year-old man died in a single-vehicle accident in Adams County on Monday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The Adams County Coroner pronounced Michael Copas of Stout, Ohio dead at the scene of the crash on Ohio 136 just before 5:30 p.m., patrol officials said in a prepared statement.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Copas' 1994 International 4900 Farm Truck ran off the right side of the road, they said. He over corrected, and his vehicle slid off the right side of the road, overturning onto its top.

He was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by crews from Wayne Township and West Union fire departments.

Patrol officials said Copas was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol and/or drugs is not believed to be factors.

The crash remains under investigation.
