CINCINNATI (FOX19) -

Dole Fresh Vegetables is pulling bags of spinach off the shelves for a salmonella risk.

The voluntary recall affects 13 states including Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

Dole says no illnesses have been reported but salmonella can cause gastrointestinal distress and can be a concern for the young, old, or those with weakened immune systems.

Check the product code in the upper right-hand corner to find out if your spinach is included in the recall.

The recalled products are those coded A27409B and A27409A, also with an "Enjoy By" date of October 15 and a UPC code on the back of 7143000976.
