Arrest made in threat against Mariemont High School

The student accused of sending a threat to Mariemont High School was escorted from the school and arrested Thursday morning.

A threat was submitted through the district’s online safety reporting system Wednesday, according to Mariemont City Schools spokesperson Josephine McKenrick.

Staff and students were forced to evacuate the school while bomb units investigated.

The suspect confessed to the Mariemont police but did not provided a reason for the threat, said McKenrick. The student is charged with inducing panic on school property, a fourth degree felony.

Mariemont High School sent the following email to parents on Thursday:

The Mariemont Police has made an arrest in connection with the threat that required an evacuation of Mariemont High School yesterday. A juvenile suspect was arrested this morning and charged with inducing panic on school property.
