TAYLOR MILL, KY (FOX19) -

Sun glare is to blame after a 13-year-old boy was struck by a Jeep in Independence, according to the Kenton County Police.

Emergency crews were called to Mills Road near Middleton-Mills Park around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night.

The 13-year-old boy was traveling westbound on Mills Road when he attempted to turn into the park, according to Kenton County Police. Police say the driver of the Jeep could not see the boy due to the sun glare. By the time the driver was able to see the boy investigators say he swerved but clipped the rear tire of the bike.

Kenton County PD say the boy landed in the grass on the north shoulder. He was taken via Air Care to Children's Hospital with moderate injuries.

The driver of the Jeep was not injured, according to police.
