CLINTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

A couple was arrested Monday after they said they were planning to smuggle heroin into a jail, according to the Warren County Drug Task Force.

Douglas Osborne, 49, and Connie Tackett, 42, of Springfield, were charged with trafficking drugs after an investigation of the conveyance of illegal drugs into the Madison Correctional Institution in London, Ohio.

Arrangements were made with Osborne and Tackett, a cook in the prison, to meet with an undercover officer in Wilmington, according to officials.

Police say the reason for the meeting was to provide the them with a half ounce of heroin that would be taken into the prison for $500.

Osborne and Tackett were arrested with the assistance of the Wilmington Police Department after the exchange, officials said.

Authorities say the couple also brought their 15-year-old daughter to the transaction.

Osborne and Tackett are being held in the Clinton County Jail.
