MAYSVILLE, KY (FOX19) -

As the sun set Wednesday, hundreds lit candles to remember Lori Doppelheuer and her children; Christopher Kearney, Eagan Hargis, and Kieran Hargis and a neighbor Larry Brickels, who lost their lives in that tragic fire in Maysville.

Among the crowd Wednesday night was Marco Barrios and his family. They lost loved ones when floodwaters swept away their mobile home.  A pregnant mother and her two children were killed. Barrios remembers when he heard the news of the
fire.

“We start crying because, every time it comes back to us, you know what happened with us I said oh no,” said Barrios.

Through his own grief, he still wanted to be here for the family dealing with this tragedy.

“Support them because I know. I go through the same thing,” said Barrios.

Those remembering the family sung Amazing Grace and broke into small groups to pray. Pastor Kevin Bell of the Faithway Baptist Church also led the group in prayer.

“Just the fact that we had the opportunity to show our faith and be a light, you know we held these candles where supposed to be lights for the community,” said Bell.

Maysville’s Mayor David Cartmell says he’s been in touch with the family.

They just want to begin the healing process. They have a long row to hoe and they’re just try to get through it all.
