HEBRON, KY (FOX19) -

The Transportation Security Administration is stressing passenger awareness in the weeks leading up to the holiday season.

TSA agents are hosted a press conference Thursday about the various items seized from airport passengers on a regular basis.

Just last week, TSA agents across the county confiscated 64 guns and 22 stub guns at airports. Nine firearms have been confiscated from CVG in 2015 compared to 14 in 2014, according to a CVG official.

TSA agents at CVG said they are screening 8,000 passengers per day so far this year with 5,000 bags checked. In 2014, 7,000 passengers were screened per day, according to the officials.

Despite warnings, they say, passengers still fail to understand airport regulations.

Around 300 lbs. of prohibited items, such as knives and tools, have also been confiscated this year, according to CVG.
