CINCINNATI (FOX19) -

Deer Park Junior and Senior High Schools were evacuated Friday after a computer-recorded bomb threat was phoned into the school, according to Deer Park police.

Police say the bomb threat was a “swatting” call - a prank where people falsely report emergencies to prompt law enforcement response.

Schools in Ohio have seen a rash of threatening calls in the past two months. Federal authorities blamed swatting in at least one of the recent incidents.

Police and fire units swept the campus before students safely resumed class. Deer Park Police said the department is working with the Fusion Center and FBI on the case.

Students at Whitewater Valley Elementary School in Harrison were also evacuated following a reported bomb threat Friday, school officials said. All students were safely moved to the Activity Center and dismissed as usual.

Officials have not released additional details on the threat or said if it could be related to swatting.
