Gina Wagner had to get creative when her son asked for a birthday gift that couldn’t be purchased from a store.

After his sister received a customized American Girl Doll, 6-year-old Miles decided he also wanted a lookalike doll for himself. Other than Legos, an American Boy Doll was the only item on Miles' birthday wish list, Gina said.

“Trouble is, there are no 18-inch “American Boy” dolls available,” Gina wrote in her now-viral blog post.

She took matters into her own hands and detailed the process on her now-viral blog post. (See Miles’ surprised reaction to receiving his own American Boy Doll in the video above.)

Gina first found a $25 doll on eBay and only invested another $25 to transform the toy into a mini-Miles.

“If I looked past the hot pink lipstick and hair bow, I saw the spitting image of my son,” she said of the pre-made over doll.

After a quick haircut, eyelash trim and makeup removal (Thanks to the help of acetone,) Gina was only a few steps away from giving her son the doll of his dreams. She finished the doll off with a beanie and Spiderman tee.

She said Miles loves the doll and that he's named it 'Fred.'
