COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) -

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has been suspended one game after being charged with an OVI early Saturday morning, the school announced.

OSU announced the suspension on its athletic department's twitter page Saturday morning. The sophomore quarterback will serve the suspension against Minnesota on Nov. 7.

Barrett, 20, was stopped after trying to avoid a DUI checkpoint near the OSU campus, ESPN reports. Fellow Buckeye quarterback, Cardale Jones, picked up Barrett after failing the breathalyzer, according to ESPN. He is facing a misdemeanor OVI charge.

Barrett regained the starting quarterback job over Jones last week's win against Rutgers.
