FAYETTE COUNTY, IN (FOX19) -

East Clinton High School will hold a candlelight vigil for two senior students killed in a weekend car crash.

Brandon Newman and Anderson VanNieuwenhze will be remembered on the school football field Monday at 6:30 p.m. All community members are welcome, the school district says.

The crash occurred Saturday on U.S. 62SW, just north of the Fayette and Highland County line in Green Township around 9:25 p.m., according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

Vannieuwenhze, 17, was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora when he failed to negotiate a left curve, losing control of the vehicle, said Sheriff Vernon Stanforth

The vehicle reportedly traveled off the right side of the roadway, striking the ditch and a utility pole before coming to a rest in a field.

Newman, 18, was in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Both teens were pronounced dead at the scene by Fayette County coroner Dr. Dennis Mesker.

Police said the vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene.

Services for the teens have not been set, according to the school district. Donations for funeral and burial expenses will be collected at the vigil Monday.
