Investigation leads to discovery of 80 pre-packaged amounts of heroin

BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

A two month investigation lead to a large heroin bust in Butler County Friday. 

Sheriff Richard Jones reported that a search warrant at an apartment in the 3800 block of Mack Road resulted in the arrest of Derrick Solomon, 33. 

According to police, Solomon was in possession of 80 pre-packaged amounts of heroin. 

"The packages were completely ready for distribution," said Sergeant Jason Owens. "Every package is at least one dose someone can't take." 

Agents also reported finding a handgun, multiple digital scales and $500 cash.

Solomon was charged with trafficking in drugs, a felony of the 1st degree, possession of drugs, a felony of the 2nd degree, weapons under disability, a felony of the 3rd degree, possession of drugs and trafficking in Drugs, both 5th degree felonies, said officials. 

“This was a good day,” said Sheriff Jones.  “Heroin is killing people at a very rapid rate.  You can die the first time you try it.  Heroin is extremely lethal, and I want it out of this county and off our streets.  I encourage anyone with information to text, call, stop in, whatever it takes to put these criminals out of business.”

B.U.R.N. (Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics Taskforce) will work with directly with the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office to continue the investigation.  They do expect more arrests and charges soon.
