FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - There were anxious smiles and homemade signs welcoming about 200 soldiers from the 1st battalion, 174 Air Defense Artillery Regiment.
Friends and families were ready to greet the soldiers return with lots of hugs at the Tri-County Assembly of God Tuesday. The soldiers returned home after being deployed for 10 months.
The soldiers had wrapped up their mission in the National Capital Region serving in the Integrated Air Defense System mission. Those who missed them at home have been counting the days till their return.
Jaime McDowell held this sign saying, "Out of my way I get my husband back today."
McDowell wasn't the only sign holder, so was Brandi Liebing.
"It's pretty amazing, I can see him right now; it's pretty amazing. He's the love of my life. I miss him," said Liebing.
Specialist Nick McGinnis has missed his girlfriend and his family too. But he's also missed something else. Skyline Chili.
In his first meal back, McGinnis ordered a small three way with onions and a coney with mustard and onions.
"It's an amazing feeling to be home. I been looking forward to this day for the past year and be able to come home, see my wonderful family, my beautiful girlfriend," McGinnis said.
The first bite of Skyline along with being with his family is all this solider needed.
"Just being able to spend time with my family is what I'm looking forward to," said McGinnis.
