CINCINNATI (FOX19) -
The Princeton High School football coach went beyond the goal to fill barrels of food Friday. Along with the help of the community, twenty to twenty-five barrels of food were gathered.
Calvin Johnson perched up in the observation tower over the Vikings Stadium practice field and pledged to stay there until he reached his food drive goal. He originally wanted to fill 10 big barrels with donated food items.
With only a single blanket, Coach Johnson started his detainment Thursday at 11 p.m. and came down from the tower at 6 p.m. Friday.
The community helped set Johnson free by donating nonperishable food items, canned goods and anything that could help those in-need this season.
His success in gathering food will help feed at least ten families as part of the first annual Vike Nation Football Club Food Drive.
