JEFFERSON COUNTY, OH (FOX19 NOW) -

A 91-year-old man with the Ohio license plate "1 PEPSI" who went missing earlier this month has been found dead in Harrison County, authorities confirmed Tuesday morning.

No foul play is suspect after John Mathes was found inside his vehicle, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Ohio Attorney General Missing Persons Unit issued an endangered missing alert for Mathes two weeks ago after he vanished from his Wintersville residence in Jefferson County late Nov. 2. The search stretched across the state.

A farmer located Mathes in a field of Route 664.

Officials said it appears the man drove his car into a muddy hole and was unable to escape the car once it came to a stop. It appears the accident happened shortly after Mathes’ disappearance, according to the sheriff’s office.

Information about the case was displayed on ARTIMIS signs on highways across the Tri-State.

Harrison County is located about 4.7 miles from Wintersville, which is four hours northeast of Cincinnati.
