Fire chief: 2 employees suffer serious arm injuries in workplace accident

Two employees were hospitalized with serious arm injuries after a workplace accident at VisTech Manufacturing Solutions Cincinnati early Tuesday, a fire official said.

Fire crews responded to the S. West Street plant that makes automobile carpeting at 6:41 a.m. after they received reports two employees were trapped, said Lebanon Fire Chief Perry Gerome.

They found male and female workers with their arms were out of the machinery, but suffering from crushed and multiple fractures from the elbow down, he said.

The pair was pushing a template into a machine using a piece of plywood when the machine somehow malfunctioned, he said.

It remains unclear what happened, he said, adding that he would be speaking with company officials Tuesday afternoon.

The employees were taken to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, where they are undergoing treatment.

FOX19 NOW has left messages seeking comment about the incident with VisTech and the Cincinnati office of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and will update this story as more information is available.
