FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) -

A BB gun was confiscated from students at Franklin High School Wednesday, according to the Franklin Police Chief Russ Whitman.

No students were harmed when officials responded for a reported weapon in the building.

Police said the BB gun pistol was passed around by at least three students before staff confiscated the gun and turned it over to police.

“School staff acted quickly in the face of potential danger and should be commended for their actions in keeping the safety of their students and staff a top priority,” said a release from Chief Whitman.

Once an investigation is complete, the case will be presented to the juvenile prosecutor's office for criminal charges, Whitman said. No charges have been filed at this time.

Franklin City Schools released a statement about the incident on Facebook.
