HEBRON, KY (FOX19) -

Long lines formed early Wednesday in the Delta terminal at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Travelers are advised to check into airports 2 1/2 hours before flights depart.

If you are driving to the airport in Hebron, no major problems are reported on area highways and main roads at this hour.

Earlier this week, the U.S. State Department issued a travel alert for U.S. citizens traveling abroad due to an increase in terror threats.

The alert, which runs through Feb. 24, said ISIL, al-Qaida, Boko Haram and other terrorist groups continue to plan attacks in multiple regions.

"These attacks may employ a wide variety of tactics, using conventional and non-conventional weapons and targeting both official and private interests," said the State Department in the alert.

The Transportation Security Administration says it typically sees 2 million people travel during the Thanksgiving holiday.

That is expected to increase nearly 40 percent on the days leading up to the holiday.
