Escaped Ripley Co. inmate back in custody after 9 hour search
RIPLEY COUNTY, IN (FOX19) -
Ripley County officials confirmed that escaped inmate Chris Rolfes, 41, is back in custody with the assistance of the public Sunday morning after a 9-hour search in southeast Indiana.
Ripley County Sheriff’s office say Rolfes fled from the Ripley County Jail on foot at about 10:50 p.m. on Saturday night.
Officials believed he could have possibly been attempting to make his way to the area of Cleves or Miamitown, Ohio.
Rolfes was last seen on foot traveling south from the Ripley County Jail, wearing white long sleeve thermal type shirt underneath of a Jail issued orange jumpsuit and jail issued sandals.
Officials said immediately following Rolfes' fleeing from the jail, numerous Sheriff's Deputies assisted by the Indiana State Police, Milan Police Department, Versailles Police Department, and Laurel Police Department conducted an extensive search of the area surrounding the jail.
