New names among the richest on Forbes' billionaires list
The really rich have gotten even richer. Forbes magazine is out with its annual rankings of the world's billionaires.
No surprise at the top -- where Bill Gates reigns for the eleventh year in a row. The Microsoft chairman's net worth is 46-point-five billion dollars. Investor Warren Buffet is second with 44 billion. Number three is one of the men who jumped up the list due to a demand for steel, the Internet and sofas. Indian steel mogul Lakshmi Mittal quadrupled his net worth to 25 billion dollars A Mexican telecom magnate and Ikea's founder are among the others gaining ground. The number of billionaires grew by more than a hundred from a year ago, to a record 691. Their total net worth stands at two-point-two trillion dollars.
