Gun is missing; prosecutor says adults could be charged
The Butler County prosecutor is warning that serious charges could be filed against adults who may be withholding information in the shooting death of a 4-year-old boy.
Robin Piper says several individuals may be held responsible for the lack of cooperation with Hamilton police. The boy, Delacey Smith, died Wednesday after police said his 7-year-old brother shot him while playing with a handgun he thought was a toy. Police say the gun was not at the boys' home where the shooting happened, and it had not been found as of yesterday.
Authorities say any number of charges could be filed against adults in the case, ranging from obstructing justice to child endangerment.
